Reed is a staple resource in Agricola. Reed can be used to construct structures, which are incredibly important for the end game and for victory scoring. Because resources come from different places, determining whether or not one is going to focus on animals or resources early on in the game, let alone which specific resource they're going to focus on, will impact the end-game farm and how farming goes throughout the game proper.
